Selling Your House in the Spring

Deciding to sell your home in the spring time can mean joining a pretty competitive landscape as many home sellers opt to get through the winter months before listing their homes.

Putting yourself and your home in a position to stand out is a must for a spring sale, so to help you do so, here are our Three Cs to getting your home ready to sell in the coming months.

A Deep Spring Clean

It goes without saying that a clean home is an attractive home but if you really want your home to stand out you cannot afford to overlook a single detail. Make sure you hit all of the big ticket items like sparkling windows, shining grout,  steamed carpets and shimmering countertops but don’t forget to pay attention to places like the garage and basement as sprucing these areas up can be a huge selling point for potential buyers. Also, make sure you get your home’s exterior in order as well. Curb appeal can be a powerful tool to leverage so make sure you pay attention to how your front yard looks (remember: landscaping can pay off)!

Completely Clear the Clutter

You are selling your home because you plan on moving to a new home; so start packing up all of the non-essentials TODAY! This will not only make the move easier on the backend, but it will make your home much more appealing to those potential buyers coming through. Store your boxes in a small storage rental or see if your friends or family will let you park some boxes until your new place is ready.

Consider (Some) Color

When smartly executed as part of a larger strategy, incorporating a little color into your home can go a long way in making your home stand out from the pack. Traditionally, homes ready for sale were done with only neutral colors like beige or white; however creating a coordinated color scheme can be a perfectly acceptable and useful tool for a sale this spring. Think about subtle ways that color can make your rooms stand out – like a master bedroom comforter or throw pillows for your couch.

So when preparing your home for a quick sale be sure to start with the Three Cs of spring sales: completely clean your home (including the basement and garage), clear out the clutter, and smartly introduce a little color into your home staging!
